Forsyth Country Day 66 vs Concord 36
Forsyth Country Day
- Bruno Solumon – 2016 – 6’9 forward with a nice touch around the basket. Really gives Forsyth another threat down low in the paint. Very good size and just one of two big men that Forsyth has that makes them a dangerous team. Solumon finished with a game high 21 points and is a SOLID post presence. Division I type post man
- Nicholas Evtimov – 2019 – this young man has the stuff and can play several positions for this team and is still growing into what he can do on the court. Really was impressed with him and his game. Several others from Phenom have been high on this young man and the talent is in the genes.
- Overall: This is a very dangerous team that will sneak up on several teams and will look to compete in the 3A. I was very impressed overall what this team did with having nine players in the box score in Game 1.
Concord
- Ray Kowalski – 2016 – flat out can shoot the ball, leading the team with 21 points and hitting five three’s in the game. He did it all for Concord against Forsyth, as the team struggled against a talented opponent. But Kowalski showed that he could be on a tear this season.
- Rechon Black – 2018 – This is a kid that several have heard already and isn’t a surprise with his talent. Lengthy guard that just simply can do it all for the Spiders. He had a tough Game 1 but the talent level for his is off the charts and he will be the man guy for much of the season.
Greensboro Day 39 vs Charlotte Catholic 22
Greensboro Day
- JP Moorman – 2017 – athletic forward that can play small forward or down low. But with his newly trimmed frame, he has elevated his level of play and programs are noticing. He has a nice release and with his size, he can shoot over most opponents on the outside, while showing his talents attacking the rim.
- Will Dillard – 2018 – tremendous guard, whether it is running the point or scoring, he has the athletic ability to do whatever he wants on the court. Showed a nice pullup, displayed a strong attack to the rim, and dishes the ball with great vision
- John Newman – 2018 – This young man, you can see the improvement he has made from last year, now hitting the outside jumper and his ability to guard multiple positions is fantastic. Works really hard on the court on both ends and is great out in transition. Nice handles as well for his size.
- Overall: This team is simply tremendous in all areas. They play as a team, win as a team, and they have a team mentality. They were the best team defensively at the High School Jamboree by far. The Bengals look like another top team this year.
Forsyth Country Day 36 vs North Mecklenburg 61
North Mecklenburg
- Jaylen McManus – 2016 – small forward that played big down low at the event. But his length can give opponents fits and when in transition, can make plays. He really can do so much on the court well, which is why he has several programs offering him. McManus finished the game with 23 big points.
- Davion Mintz – 2016 – Creighton has some talented guards coming their way and Mintz is one of them. 6’4 frame that handles the offense for North Meck. He certainly looks like the leader of this talented and deep North Meck team. Had 17 points in the win
- Overall: This team is a legit contender with so many pieces coming back. They should make a deep run this year and several already have them pegged as the favorite to take the state title. The talent is there in all areas and is a deep team as well.
