Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jamon Battle

Class: 2019
Committed to: UNC Asheville

What the Player Said:

Q: What made UNC Asheville the ultimate place for you'

Battle: Well, on my visit they made me feel like home and they really would love to have me there. I had the best opportunities there during school and after.

Q: How did you inform them and what did they have to say when you told them about your decision'

Battle: I called the coach and told him I was just ready to shut it down and commit. They were excited to know that I committed.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“I can really shoot the ball. But people look past that because I’m always making plays on the rim. Fans probably look at that part of my game more because of the excitement it brings. But lately I’ve been working even more on my midrange, pull-up, and three-point game. Learning how to create space all the time. Just trying to add a lot to my arsenal.” – Battle back in 2018

“Reserved and humble off the court Jamon Battle is an exciting high flying, rim-rocking player once he steps on the floor. Jamon’s athleticism stands out most when you watch this wiry wing. His explosive jumping ability, the quickness with which he gets off the ground and his hang time are impressive. It’s almost as if he can wait in the air and suddenly go higher if he has too! Jamon can get to the rim, a slashing and bouncy basket attacking wing who will throw it down on you. He first started dunking when he was in the 8th grade! He is a very good finisher not only playing above the rim but maneuvering in traffic and finishing through contact. He can hit the jumper and has a very good range, can also score off the bounce in the mid-range area. His elite athleticism and skill allow him to be effective in small spaces. Jamon has a long wingspan and is an excellent rebounder on both ends. Has demonstrated the ability to capably defend either wing and the post at the high school level.” – Phenom Hoops in 2016
