On November 7th, Phenom Hoop Report will be hosting our third annual High School Jamboree at Proehlific Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. Over 30 teams will be making their way to Tournament Town to showcase their talents to a plethora of scouts, college coaches, and passionate fans. After thorough review of the field, our team decided to put together a little “sneak preview” of individual players and teams that people need to keep a close eye on.
TEAM:
Lincoln Charter (Denver, NC)
HEAD COACH:
Brad Gabriel
2014-2015 RECORD:
24-7 (11-1)
Last season Lincoln Charter made it to the 1A NCHSAA state Final Four. They were led by a young core of players that are all back. Look for another run, led by a group of fun guards.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Kody Shubert (5’11” Sophomore)
It was behind Shubert that Lincoln Charter made their run. As a freshman, last year, Shubert averaged 19 points, 5 boards, 3.5 assists, and 4.5 steals per game. Shubert plays with a confidence in his game, he makes shots with deep range and delivers passes on a dime. Shubert is tracking as a D1 player and it is only a matter of time before that first offer comes in.
Lavonte Knox (6’ Freshman)
Knox is a name that not many people know yet. The lefty is a cat quick lead guard, who is able to get into the lane when he wants and carries an unwavering swag in his game. Knox should be placed on D1 coaches SIM Cards, and it will be interesting to watch him grow.
Logan Foster (6’ Senior)
Foster is a tough and gritty guard. He can shoot the ball well and plays tough defense with a purpose.
Jehlon Johnson (6’8” Sophomore)
Johnson is a large load in the paint. He does a good job carving out space and he has touch around the rim. Though below the rim, he is a very good rebounder. Johnson is one that D1 should begin tracking now.
Other Notable Players
5’10” Junior Trey Johnson, 6’1” Senior Joe Fortkort
