There is a lot of talent to watch in this division. Each team has at least 4 college level prospects and each team carries mid to high major guys. This will be a bracket watched closely by college coaches and scouts alike as there will be some great guard match ups and bigs matched up.

Coming of a 2014-2015 season that many would consider special, Word of God revamped the lineup and are settled in to make a run at a National Title. Many are considering the school a Top 50 team in the country, and they have the talent and depth to outplay that ranking.

6’4” Senior Rawle Alkins
Power is the key to Alkins’ game. He gets downhill and uses his physicality to finish at the basket. Alkins, from New York, carries a City toughness to him and that famed swag that NYC guards have. Alkins is a Top 15 player in his class
6’9” Junior Brandon Huffman
Huffman came back home from Alaska, and has done nothing but open eyes since being here. He has big time length and a motor to match. Huffman enjoys protecting the paint. He is a Top 100 type and should see a huge recruitment boost this year.
6’1” Senior Jalen Harris (Buffalo)
Harris is a wizard in the open court, flashing highlight reel handles and explosion. He recently committed to Buffalo after opening a lot of eyes playing this summer on the Adidas Gauntlet
6’3” Junior Blake Harris
Harris has a great feel for the game, and has been talked about as one of the elite passers in the country. He has pedigree father is a 10+ year NFL player (with 1 Super Bowl). We first spoke about Harris four years ago, and he has done nothing but continued to get better. 10+ HM offers, and a Top 100 type player.
6’3” Senior Jaylen Fornes (UNCW)
Fornes has been a player we have talked about for a couple of years now. He is an explosive wing, that works hard on defense, and makes shots in the mid range.

Millbrook High School is in the midst of their best stretch in school history. Their program has made it to the North Carolina 4A State Final Four in 3 of the previous 4 years. They have only lost 1 conference game in the last two years, and each team is putting multiple players onto college basketball rosters. This year, they have lost 70% of their scoring, but still were able to run through the summer with no losses and an average win of 15 points.
Players to Watch
6’5” Senior Trejon Jacob
The lefty is an alum of the prestigious NC Top 80. He is very long, is highly athletic, and shoots the ball with touch and deep range. He carries multiple D2 offers, but look for him to have a huge season, as he is playing for a D1 scholarship.
6’6” Senior Faison Brock
Brock is the stat stuffer as the team’s anchor. He will most likely lead the team in rebounds, blocks, and steals. He carries multiple D2 offers, more offers should come as they run through this season.
5’11” Senior John Burwell
Kind of an unsung hero on this team, Burwell was almost an after thought heading into the summer, but his play throughout the summer lead the team. It was his pace, his penetration, his leadership that led the charge. Look for that to continue through this year.

6’1” Junior Mastadi Pitt
Pitt is a sturdy point guard, that carries the utmost confidence in his game. He fits in the mold of the traditional Virginia point guard that has gone on to success in Power 5 football (Frank Mason, Cat Barber, Troy Caupain, etc..). With high major offers in hand, look for Pitt to continue that lineage.
6’4” Junior Marvin Trotman
Trotman has always been athletic, and a player who is known. However, recently his game has really slowed down. His handle in the half court has become more confident and his jump shot has become more consistent. He carries multiple D1 offers, look for that number to steadily rise.

Rice is a high motor lead guard who not only makes his shots, but gets his team in sets. He sets the tone with his leadership as a two way player.
6’6” Devin Hutchinson
Hutchinson is a very good athlete, and uses that on both ends of the court. He is best getting downhill and in transition and carries a very nice upside.
6’9” Jamari Benjamin
Benjamin is a high level rim protector with great length and size. On offense, he has good footwork, soft hands and plays above the rim. He should have D1 coaches watching closely.

Storylines to Watch
Jamari Benjamin Vs Brandon Huffman
Throwback bigs are hard to come by, however this is a matchup of two guys that enjoy protecting the paint. Huffman played last year in Alaska, Benjamin played in the Virgin Islands. Both players stand about 6’9” and carry wing spans over 7’. Both players will have multiple games of 10+ blocked shots this year and should both average around 10 boards. Both players will battle defensively to set the tone for their team.
Mastadi Pitt Vs Jalen Harris
The tone of the game starts with the point guard, they are the one who has the ball the most and they are the ones that everyone is looking to. Both players are coming off big summers. Both players are blurs in transition. Harris is committed to Buffalo and Pitt is getting offers from mid to high major schools. It could be a very telling battle.
Millbrook Vs Word of God
In this event last year, these two teams matched up for an epic battle. In that game, Millbrook beat Word of God by less than 5. These are virtually two new teams. Millbrook is in the middle of their best run in school history and Word of God is considered one of the best teams in the country. These schools are 10 miles apart, their players know each other and should be a fun atmosphere.

Word of God is one of the best high school teams in the country. Concord Prep is one of the best post grad teams in the country. Both players have D1 guys throughout their rosters with tough guards and high motor bigs. This game should be a battle
