Joe Bamisile 6’3 193 2020 Monacan High School, Chesterfield County VA

Joe’s athleticism jumps out at you immediately as does the smoothness of his playmaking style, as if it comes second nature to him! There is nothing on the basketball court he cannot do at a high level but his prolific scoring ability and dynamic playmaking skills often overshadows his elite passing ability and his game changing defensive exploits. As a scorer he is undoubtedly one of the best in Virginia and he has the quickness and skill to get his own shot and dominate in isolations. Not a dazzling ball handler like some scorers who pound the ball often mixing in various dribble moves to win the one on one; Joe is more conservative with the dribble breaking his man down preferring to use hesitations, quick crossovers and inside out dribble moves to get his defender leaning and then employ his blow by quickness and solid burst to leave defenders in his wake. Doesn’t play with the dribble too much, just enough to get his defender leaning or off balance before making his move into the lane where his creativity is most apparent. More of a straight line basket attacking guard, Joe uses excellent craftiness to adjust with the ball in the lane employing jump stops, stop and pivot moves, misdirection steps, and hesitation dribbles to change directions in the lane creating separation for the pull-up jumper or weaving his way to high percentage shot attempts. His pull up jumper is near automatic and the quickness with which he brakes and elevates into his shot makes it nearly impossible to contest. He gets excellent elevation and has a high release on a text book pull-up jumper. Amazingly agile and playing with great balance, Joe can start and stop with abruptness and explosiveness. He shoots off hang dribbles exceptionally well. He has range well beyond the high school three point arc and has a quick release in catch and shoot scenarios. He does a great job moving off the ball and getting to his kill spots and doesn’t need much time to get his shot off. While a high volume scorer, Joe is a willing and skilled passer. He makes jaw dropping passes off the dribble and displays great vision and really makes teammates better who find open looks as a result of Joe’s ability to penetrate and draw defensive help. As a defender his athleticism and 7’1 wingspan allows him to tie up opposing ball handlers. He reads the dribble nicely and has quick hands reaching in to knock the ball away and get steals. Off the ball he shows great anticipation in passing lanes and quickness to turn a dribbler and snatch the ball away with cat like quickness or pick off passes and quickly turn them into highlight reel dunks going the other way. Joe plays with great enthusiasm and often makes it look so easy. He exudes confidence and you always expect a dynamic play when he has the ball in his hands not because he has a flair for the spectacular which he does, but because he’s such an elite playmaker who can use his explosive 40” vertical leap to finish above the rim in dramatic fashion, contort his body and blow by defenders or slice to the rim for a score or pass to an open teammate displaying tremendous athletic prowess and do so in such smooth and effortless style. He has begun to attract quite a bit of Division I attention and certainly has the tools and intangibles to be an impact player at the next level. Joe currently holds offers from West Virginia, VCU, Richmond, Old Dominion, St. Louis, Detroit, George Mason and Sienna and has interest from NC State, Pittsburgh, Florida, FGCU, Tulsa, IUPUI Fort Wayne.
