Carmel Christian 90 – Comenius 49
In the first quarter, it seemed like both teams were looking to play their style of offense and defense, figuring each other out. In doing so, both started out slow in the first half. Comenius took advantage early against the full court press but Carmel Christian picked it up a notch, creating turnovers and getting out in transition. It helped lead to a 36-26 halftime lead for Carmel. In the second half though, Comenius made a small early run to start the third quarter but Carmel Christian simply was to strong, attacking the paint, and getting Comenius to play their style of play. In the fourth quarter, it was a track meet up and down the court, with Carmel Christian finishing the game off with authority with a few high-flying dunks.

2019 6’4 Donovan Gregory (Appalachian State commit):
Gregory did what he does best, using his athleticism, size and strength to finish around the rim. He continues to work on his outside jumper but he did much of his damage around the rim, staying active and using his motor to out play his opponent and get out in the open court. He has a powerful lower frame and he did a bunch of the little things. Stats: 23 points
2019 6’2 Myles Pierre (Houston Baptist commit):
He showcased strong handles and a smooth release, knocking down the open jumper when left open. He finds his own shot but doesn’t force anything, especially with this team. He plays with a calming attitude and understanding on the floor. Stats: 14 points
2019 6’6 Deangelo Epps (College of Charleston commit):
Epps has a body frame full of athleticism and power, especially when he wants to throw it down, which he did on multiple occasions. He brings excitement and strength in transition, as well as someone that can play outside and in. He was in attack mode in this matchup, getting to the line multiple times and finishing all around the rim with authority. Stats: 15 points
2019 6’7 Jake Boggs (UNCW commit):
Boggs brings an interesting versatility to the floor. He has a smooth shot from outside, even though it wasn’t falling on Tuesday. However, he was active on both ends, blocking shots and altering the opponents’ offense, as well as being active around the rim. He couldn’t be stopped, using his tremendous length and stretching the floor. He was all over the floor on both ends. Stats: 18 points
Comenius
2020 6’7 Josh Rubio: he brings size and attitude to the floor, as he continues to develop his overall game. He showcased a nice soft touch around the rim, finishing through a ton of contact and being active on the boards. Rubio also displayed a nice mid-range, outside jumper with soft touch as well. He was one of the true offensive threats, moving well on the floor, finishing off the glass, and showing his ability to knock down an open three. Stats: 15 points
2019 6’0 Ja’Quese Hemphill: Hemphill was probably the most dangerous shooter on the floor for Comenius, knocking down a few critical three’s early on in the game. He only needs a little space and showed the confidence to hit the open shot. Stats: 8 points
2019 6’7 Akram Ben Salah: the senior struggled to put points on the board but the other things he did on the floor were huge for this team. He was active, brought energy, and created extra possessions with his effort on the floor. He attacked the boards, dove on the floor for loose balls, and created turnovers. He only recorded two points but his activity on the floor didn’t go unnoticed.
