Phenom’s High School Jamboree Session 1
What We’re Looking For (Part 7/10)
New Life Christian Vs. Piedmont Classical (10:40AM Proehlific Park)
Yesterday we spoke about Greensboro Day Vs. Independence High School, a couple of established programs, who will be battling it out at Phenom’s High School Jamboree. However, this one is about two newer programs who are trying to become established, and they’re establishing things quickly.
Piedmont Classical took the state by storm last year with the play of junior point guard Shakeel Moore. Moore was a staple at the North Carolina All Star Circuit, as he won the inaugural dunk contest at the prestigious North Carolina Top 80. He is a high flying, explosive point guard. He shot the ball well and plays both ends of the floor in an explosive downhill manner. Keep your eyes open, he WILL wow you.
Joining Moore on Piedmont Classical are a pair of lengthy junior wings 6’6” Jalen King Joiner and 6’5” Trent McIntyre. Joiner is an explosive player, like Moore, and tries to dunk any and everything he can. He gets out on the wing and runs the floor like a deer, always in attack mode. McIntyre is more of a playmaking combo guard. He has great feel and handle, able to get into the paint and create for his teammates. He can also use his athleticism for himself. Both Joiner and McIntyre have big upside as defensive stoppers, with the length and quickness to defend multiple positions.
New Life Christian on the other hand is a scrappy, in your face type of team. Their unquestioned leader is 5’11 junior Reggie Walton. The point guard plays with a big heart, he is incredibly vocal, talking on both ends of the floor. He is quick and a terror defensively.
Also for New Life Christian is 6’8 2020 Jeremyah McWilliams and 6’6 junior Reggie Raynor. McWilliams is the team’s rim protecting force. He is athletic around the basket and serves well as a rim running or lob catching big. His is a major factor on the boards and in altering shots around the basket. Raynor is an athletic and explosive force. He has incredible strength and length and when he gets in the open court has a propensity for fireworks.
Each of these schools have players with offers with offers…and they both have more players who have not received offers, but should soon…
New Life Christian
6’6” 2020 Reggie Raynor: Tennessee State and Coppin State
5’11” 2020 Reggie Walton: Mars Hill

6’ 2020 Shakeel Moore: East Carolina, Radford, Hampton, Western Carolina
6’6” 2020 Jalen King Joiner: Lee’s McRae

This game should have all the necessary components. Lots of talent on the floor, lots of athleticism across both rosters and tons of fire on both teams. This game will be exciting there is no doubt. Lots of talking and lots of dunks. It absolutely has the makings of a must watch game and one that should further put both of these programs deeper on the map.
