GRACE Christian
NCISAA 3A Eastern Plains Conference

2017-18: 11-17 (6-7)

GRACE Christian moves up to the 3A Division while also losing its Top 3 scorers from last season. On the outside looking in, that sounds like a disastrous scenario. Well Head Coach Deshannon Morris has had a couple of transfers come and, a freshman move up and a rising senior who had a great summer.

GRACE Christian will center around a high major big man in Jaylon Gibson and another probably D1 point guard in Jacob Huckins. This will be a team to watch …

6’10” 2020 Jaylon Gibson – Talk about a possible breakout candidate in the North Carolina basketball landscape. He has all the tools you want in a modern big. Standing 6’10” with a 7+’ wing span, Gibson is an incredibly fluid athlete who has ball skills and range. Upside is incredibly bright, he picked up a USF offer, look for the high majors and Top 25s to come calling soon.

6’1” 2021 Jacob Huckins – Huckins has great size and a good feel for a point guard. Watching him play, hard to think he is only a sophomore in high school. Huckins will be a great pairing with Gibson, as he has a good feel and will be a great pick and roll partner. Again he’s only a sophomore, look for Huckins to start to get colleges looking this year with a lot of growing interest.

6’2” 2019 Matthew O’Conner – O’Conner is the scrappy dude who makes all the right plays. He has a solid handle with the ball and range on his jump shot. O’Conner can defend the point of attack very well and is a good rebounder. Expect for him to start picking up college interest and offers should be coming at his appropriate level.
