What a difference a day makes! On Monday at Oak Hill open gym, we spoke to 6’8 senior BJ Mack about his two official visits, South Florida and East Carolina. At that time, he stated official visits to DePaul and Arkansas would take place in October. However, with head coach Brian Gregory and assistant coach Larry Dixon front and center, Mack decided on Tuesday to pull the trigger and commit to South Florida.

South Florida was on him the longest and the relationship built with assistant coach Larry Dixon and head coach Brian Gregory was all he needed. South Florida is getting a reliable four year player that will provide an anchor in the post area and the ability to step out and stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting ability. Mack has “passer friendly” hands and is a willing passer out of the paint. We like the fact that Mack plays within the team structure and has a high basketball IQ. He understands the game and will be a great teammate.
