We at Phenom Hoop Report released our updated August rankings of the North Carolina 2020 class. https://www.phenomhoopreport.com/rankings/2020-north-carolina-rankings/ and earlier we published our North Carolina Dream Team which consisted of the top five players in the class. https://www.phenomhoopreport.com/2018/08/17/coach-rick-north-carolina-2020-dream-team/ The North Carolina 2020 is so deep and in this issue, we will take a closer look at the NC 2020 Dream Team (Second Team) which is players ranked 6-10 Phenom Hoop Report.

6’4 Ricky Council IV (Northern Durham)

To say Ricky Council made a statement in the month of July for Team Felton, would be a gross understatement. At the recent JMAC Showcase, the athletic scoring guard created quite a buzz. Council has a unique blend of explosiveness, athleticism and a matching skillset, however his shot making abilities caught the eyes of several high major coaches in attendance. As the old saying goes, shooters translate at every level and one thing is crystal clear, Council can flat out shoot the cover off the ball. We were also very impressed with his poise and maturity, not to mention his self-confidence especially in his ability to knock down shots. Go ahead and put Council in your SIM card.

6’7 Jaden Seymour (Northside Christian)

Upside and potential are the two words used most often to describe 6’7 Jaden Seymour of Northside Christian. Seymour is an athletic combo forward who has tremendous length along with a matching skillset. We have always been impressed with his motor and competitive spirit on the court. Coach Hatchell has been singing the praises for Seymour for the past year and stated, “Jaden is an extremely hard worker and is very coachable, he accepts all the challenges put in front of him.” This statement alone speaks volume and should be music to the ears of college coaches.

6’8 Cameron Stitt (United Faith Academy)

Cameron Stitt is the one player that hasn’t even come close to reaching his upside and potential. He has tremendous length, athleticism and unbelievable mobility and versatility at the forward position. This past June, Phenom staff writer Jeff Bendel stated it best, “Cameron Stitt has all the tools and college coaches haven’t realized how special he could become.” With Cameron Stiff, what you currently see is not the finished product. We have always been impressed with his ability to guard multiple positions. His stock is currently on the rise and once he gains additional strength, watch out!

6’6 Silas Mason (Ben L. Smith HS)

Silas Mason is a highlight ready to happen. The southpaw has tremendous bounce and athleticism and is expanding his game and overall skillset. Known for his athleticism, Ben Smith head coach Derrick Partee put the ball in his hands more during June work outs and during team camps. Mason was used as a “point forward” this past summer and we were quite impressed with his ability to make plays off the dribble/bounce. He is developing his game and has worked hard on his perimeter shooting skills. That being said, Mason has the ability to take over a game on both ends of the court.

6’2 Tristan Maxwell (North Mecklenburg HS)

Shooters translate at every level and we expect Tristan Maxwell stock to be on the rise once the high school basketball begins. He was North Mecklenburg’s leading scorer as a junior last season and with the departure of 6’9 Jaelyn Withers, we fully expect Maxwell to take on a much bigger scoring load for Coach Duane Lewis and the North Meck Vikings. Maxwell has the ability to score points in bunches especially from the 3-point line. Playing for a star studded travel ball team, Maxwell played mostly off the ball, but we expect he will have the ball in his hands and be asked to create more himself as well as his teammates.
