6’6 2022 Yashiya Crespin, Looking for Breakout Season
Back in 2018, Yashiya Crespin made the move to North Carolina from New Mexico. Playing for Garner Road 15U team, we wrote the following. “Crespin brings an ability to defend multiple positions while being a really smart offensive player, always playing within himself, making smart, efficient decisions on that end of the court.” Last season, Crespin sat out the entire season due to a foot injury and therefore has announced he will be transferring to GRACE Christian and reclassing to the NC 2022 class.
In another camp setting, we wrote, “Yashiya Crespin. He’s a guard prospect with great size and a pretty unique approach to the game. Offensively, Crespin showed the ability to break down opponents off the dribble and finish aggressively at the rim with regularity. His jumper is pretty effective, but he should continue to fine-tune his shooting mechanics to improve his consistency. Crespin sees the floor pretty well and possesses upside as a playmaker. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make him a more dangerous offensive threat.”
Crespin had a successful sophomore season for East Chapel Hill High School, where he averaged 7 PPG and 5 RPG and was named Big 8 All Conference. In addition, Crespin sports an impressive 3.2 GPA. We look for Crespin to have a breakout season.
