This season Jaylen Alston is averaging 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. His production is unmatched, his game is unique, and has a good story. Get used to the name because he will become a commodity around recruiting circles sooner rather than later.

As a freshman, Alston walked into Eastern Guilford High School as a 5'10' point guard. He had a good pace and handle and was very competitive, but his size didn't really give those watching a lot of hope of a collegiate basketball career, a very good high school player, yes, but college maybe not.

As a sophomore, Alston walked into Eastern Guilford High School as a 6'4' sky walking wing. Things had changed, it is like the program received a brand new transfer. Alston still had all the same ball skills and handle, but now he was putting his elbow through the rim.

Now, a junior at Eastern Guilford High School and not only is college a realistic thought, but Alston has already been on multiple invited visits to Division 1 programs. His recruitment is new, but that is to be expected his entire game is new to him.

However, make no mistake about it, Alston is one of the most productive 2-way players throughout the area. He defends multiple positions, he attacks the basket where he loves contact, he is a tough rebounder, and he acts as a reliable secondary ball handler. His complete skill set is truly unique, as he does a bit of everything and at a high level.

Alston had a breakout at the 2016 Fall NC Phenom 150 camp. That is where he first really opened people's eyes,''Jaylen is very athletic. He showed off his athleticism all day with his nice dunks in transition. This guy is a great finisher around the rim. He had a lot of nice finishes off the offensive board for put-backs. Another one of his strengths was his footwork. He has nice quick feet and he was able to challenge a lot of shots from the help-side position. He had a solid day at camp. Coach Mormon on Jaylen Alston'. This guy had some REALLY nice dunks today. He went to the rim hard all day and always came away with 2 points. He did a good job reacting to my request on D and communicated with me very well about defensive assignments. I am making sure I catch one of his games this year.'

Alston has earned an invitation to the prestigious North Carolina Top 80 event, which puts the state's best players against one another. He has earned this, he has earned the right to play on this platform in front of all the scouts and media to get seen.

Alston is starting to realize he is a very good player, he is also realizing what he does and what type of game he thrives in, 'I love an up-tempo game. I get to the rim and use my strength and athleticism to finish. I also handle the ball pretty well and attack the boards.' Alston loves the tough guy stuff, in fact he thrives there.

Recently Alston has taken visits to Radford and Campbell. He is hearing from the likes of North Carolina A&T, Citadel, and VMI. He has not received any offers yet, but they are sure to come. This summer should be a fun one for him.
