“Toughness and versatility stands out every time…What are D1 schools waiting on'!”

Carolina Wolves NC
April 7-9 Queen City Challenge (Charlotte, NC)
April 21-23 Phenom Challenge Live (Spartanburg, SC)

How is this kid flying so far under the radar'! Not only does he produce, he wins. Alston led his Eastern Guilford High School team to the NCHSAA 3A State Championship game, then the following day he gets awarded the prestigious Mr Defense award playing against the best players North Carolina has to offer at the NC Top 80.

After watching Alston it is very easy to see his worth to the team. He is an unquestioned leader, one who goes out and produces on both ends of the floor. Speaking of versatility, for the NCHSAA 3A East Champions he averaged 22.6 points, 10.6 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Speaking of production Alston also added 2.5 steals and 2.1 blocks per game.

From our first viewing of Alston, at last year’s Phenom Summer Jam Team Camp he stood out. His motor and activity was high level. We wrote, ““We absolutely loved his “full throttle” approach and plays with the proverbial chip on his shoulder. He’s a “do it all” type player that does all the intangibles that are necessary to win, but doesn’t always show up in the box sheets. Big time competitor!’

After watching him play, it is easy to fall in love with his ability. National Analyst Patrick Obrien tweeted, “Alston is a really underrated athlete but college coaches need to keep an eye on this guard. He hustles all the time.” National Analyst Jamie Shaw tweeted, “There may not be a better all-around defender at the NC Top 80 than Jaylen Alston. The long wing is explosively athletic with great anticipation.” Shaw went on to tweet, “Every 50/50 ball, every rebound seems to fall into 6’4” Jaylen Alston’s hands. He is just an animal with this motor and athleticism.”

The question remains, what are colleges waiting on with him' After Alston’s performance at the prestigious North Carolina Top 80, National Analyst Rick Lewis asked the question, “6’4 2018 Jaylen Alston played in the NCHSAA State Championship game on Saturday. Turns up at the NC Top 80 on Sunday and wins “Mr Defense”. What are D1s Looking at'!”

Right now Alston is in consistent contact with the likes of Campbell, Appalachian St, Radford, Army and Longwood. Yet, amazingly, none have offered yet. Once they see him play in April, many will see he is a no-brainer for the schools above.

All it takes is seeing Alston, schools across the country will fall in love.
