5’6 2022 Jada Jones (Rock Hill High School)

On January 9th, Jada Jones accomplished a quadruple double finishing with 10 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals. The junior point guard has led Rock Hill High School to an impressive 15-1 record and ranked number 4 in the South Carolina 5A classification.  She’s an incredible athlete that has a stellar pedigree. Her father, Tim Jones, was a standout linebacker at Clemson University from 1990-94 and is one of the all-time greats. Her mother, Jackie Gist, ran track and cross country at the University of South Carolina. To put it mildly, she got it honestly.

This season, Jada is averaging 15.3 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 5.4 APG, and 5.1 SPG. The three-sport standout also plays soccer along with track where she was all state in four events, 400-meter, 800-meter, 4 x 100 relay, and 4 x 800 relay. In speaking with head coach Kenny Orr, he stated the following. “Jada is one of the fiercest competitors I have ever coached, male or female. She is one of the best defenders. Jada plays defense with her feet and not her hands. She has outstanding lateral quickness and footwork and has a knack for frustrating opposing ball handlers. Jada actually picks up 4-5 five second calls every game. What’s even more amazing, Jada has only been playing organized basketball for three years.”

This past fall, we got a chance to watch Jada up close at our Phenom 150 evaluation/exposure camp where she walked away with the camp’s prestigious Playmaker Award. We stated, “Jada was one of the most impressive players in attendance. She’s an incredibly quick, tough, all-around guard prospect with the ability to dust opponents in transition or effectively create for herself and others within the half-court setting.”

While Jada has enjoyed instant success in track, soccer and basketball, she is also an excellent student athlete. Jada sports an amazing 4.9 GPA and according to coach Kenny Orr, has been fully qualified for college since the eight grade. Currently, Jada has gotten offers from Chaflin University and Newberry College. In addition, she is getting interest from Hampton and Howard University. For college coaches, you simply can’t judge her by her size. While most college coaches prefer bigger point guards, it would be hard to find a more competitive, athletic and all around student athlete than Jada Jones. She’s going to make some college coach look really good many years down the road.
