As the old saying goes, Coach Jim Ryan has given 5'10 '23 Micah Jones 'the keys to the car.' Last year as a freshman, Jones averaged 12.6 PPG and shot 37% from the 3-point line for Cardinal Gibbons. Jones gained valuable experience as a freshman and Coach Ryan is expecting big things for his talented playmaker.

In speaking to coach Ryan, he stated the following, 'Micah Jones started for us as a freshman last year. Since we compete in the CAP 7, arguably one of the top conferences in the state, he certainly went up against some of the finest competition around. He has the quickness to go by defenders with either hand and has the lower body strength to absorb contact near the rim. He set a school record with 285 points as a freshman and is capable of making high speed decisions in transition. He shot 38% from the 3-point line and has a nice mid-range jumper. Obviously, we are expecting big things from him next season.'

Coach Rick's Observation: Jones has superb quickness and has the ability to score from all three levels. The southpaw has a nice hesitation and change of pace dribble that often gets defenders off balance. Jones has the ability to finish at the rim using either hand and more importantly has outstanding touch and range on his jumper. Defensively, Jones has excellent anticipation and active hands. Only a freshman, Jones will figuratively be given the keys to the car and will be the man in charge in terms of running the team for coach Ryan.
