Player: Samyha Suffren

School: 2023
Committed: Virginia Tech

2022-23 Stats: Suffren continues to lead the charge for her team this season, averaging 14.9ppg, 8.9rpg, 3.1apg, and 3.4spg; and that is coming off a strong junior campaign as well.

It was another chance to watch Suffren in action, and once again, she is a player that continues to impress with her overall production and impact on the court. When watching her game, she just brings a strong product to the court; whether it is her ability to create and make plays happen, her ability to score in a variety of ways, her physicality on the boards, or her overall impact in filling up the stat sheet.  Suffren is one that just plays so hard… which is why Hokie fans will really like having her on the floor in the coming years.

Suffren can score inside and out, and has a fluid release from the perimeter but can also be effective in putting on the deck, getting into the paint, and finishing through contact.  But she is incredibly effective on the offensive and defensive boards, helping create more opportunities her way.  She just has a natural feel and can do so much for her team, which is why she was so highly recruited.

What Has Been Said:

“Suffren was impressive with her presence on the court.  It is easy to see why schools have been targeting her for the class of 2023.  She displayed a tremendous skill set, especially in creating for herself and she is a dynamic scorer from many levels and in an array of ways. Handles the ball well, plays at a great pace, and displays a feel and IQ for the game. She picks her spots well, whether it is attacking and showing her shiftiness with the ball in her hands or a smooth, confident jumper.”

“2023 Samyha Suffren is such an intriguing talent and certainly a good one coming in for Virginia Tech. Plays with such physicality, great pace, reads the floor, and is able to make plays and get to the line. #LadyPhenom #PhenomHoops”

“2023 Samyha Suffren (Cannon) is playing extremely well early on. Scoring in a variety of ways, plays with such a tremendous IQ and feel, smooth/confident jump shot, and gets after it defensively.”
