2022 6’11 Christ Essandoko quickly made a name for himself even before touching a high school court this season.  College coaches around the country starting to flock his way at Winston-Salem Christian, seeing the potential in the big man from France.

Before the season even started though, his recruitment took off with offers from Oral Roberts, North Carolina A&T, San Diego State, USF, Seton Hall, New Mexico, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Missouri State.

Most schools have continued to stay in touch throughout the season, with a few being more consistent than others. “Oral Roberts, Nebraska, and Wake Forest at times,” Essandoko told Phenom Hoops. “San Diego State and others have been staying in touch with me consistently. Most of the schools have been talking about just coming from France and adjusting my game. They are just saying that I’m a good post player but I have to improve my conditioning and become more athletic.”

Essandoko has continued to put in the work under Coach Antonio Lowe, getting better prepared for the American game, adjusting to the speed and physicality.  And he continues to show that he is a big that has great hands, sees the floor well, and is only getting better with his offensive feel.

As he continued to develop his game, Essandoko has also continued to learn more about the programs that have expressed interest his way.

“When I came from France, I didn’t know about many of the schools, only Wake Forest. But I learned a lot about San Diego State and Oral Roberts, along with others; just the academic side of things.”

Outside the schools that have offered, schools like Iowa, Georgetown, and Texas A&M have also expressed interest, as they have just been talking to him and is hoping to see him more this summer when he plays with Team Curry.

“They see a lot of potential but they want me to see if I can be that guy.”
