The Winter Nationals with Phenom Hoops is one of the best events to start the season because we not only kick off the travel ball season in a big way, but we also get a chance to see the future around the country. So many players came through the doors this past weekend and left a lasting impression, as we dive in and break down many of their games.
There was a player that certainly introduced himself to our staff at Phenom Hoops and clearly brought a lot of intrigue with blend of size, skillset, and position. 2029 6’3 Braylon Armstrong, who suited up for the Charlotte Mavs, brought a lot of appeal with his game at Winter Nationals, showing his ability to flourish in an array of ways. He grabs your attention early with his size and feel, showing the ability to operate inside and be impactful on the glass as well. But when you watch him more on the court, you start noticing his ability to be a mismatch nightmare with his ball-handling, his comfort level inside and out, and his ability to play multiple positions on the court. Armstrong can face up and score, make plays off the dribble, use his frame to body up down in the paint, and moves well all throughout the court.
Now, there is still plenty of areas we are looking to see how he develops but he offers a lot of factors in his game that should allow him to flourish down the road.
