The Phenom Winter Nationals brought a slew of new names and young talent that we are eager to watch grow and develop over the coming years. Most of these players are either finishing up middle school or are fully still in middle school, but one can’t deny that there is talent to start tracking now.
One of the best prospects that I saw at the event throughout was 2028 6’3 Landon Blakeney who was playing for Main Event over the weekend. Watching him time after time, one can’t deny that this is a young prospect who has the early tools to flourish as a player and should only continue to work and develop his overall feel in the coming years. Blakeney was the go-to offensive weapon on the court for much of the event, and he showed that he was comfortable in being efficient from an array of levels and areas on the court.
Blakeney understands how to operate and be smooth with his game, attacking and penetrating the defense, using his length to his advantage in scoring inside and over defenders while also showing athleticism as well. But he is comfortable in knocking down shots from outside, as well as impacting the game on the boards, and displaying an overall skillset that sets him apart. His impact was felt all over and on both ends, as he understands the game well at an early age.
Blakeney is one to start tracking, as he is a dual-sport athlete for basketball and football, and he excels early on in both sports.
