Names are starting to pop up a lot more in the Class of 2027, as we start learning more about the big-time talent in the class. A player who has been garnering early attention and should be looked at as one of the top prospects in his glass is 2027 Davion Thompson.

Thompson is a 6’2 guard who is coming off an impressive high school season at Bolingbrook in which he helped lead the Raiders to a 26-5 record and averaged 21 points per game.  He has only continued to show his scoring nature this season, as he is catching plenty of eyes with early offers.

Phenom Hoops spoke more to Thompson about his game, what he likes to provide and showcase on the floor, the areas of improvement, and a little more about his game and thoughts on recruitment. Check out what he had to say.

Phenom: Though early, how has everything been going this summer for you as far as travel ball? What is your excitement about playing this year?
Thompson: It has been going well. I have enjoyed playing with my teammates and having the opportunity to go compete with them against some of the top competitors in the country. I’m excited for Peach Jam, as I think we are one of the best teams in the country; we can win it all.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game and how you like to operate?
Thompson: A 2-way player. Combo guard who plays the right way, can do it on all three levels on the floor, bring defensive intensity, rebound at a high rate for a guard, and lead on and off the court. A coachable player.

Phenom: What are you hoping to focus on more with your game this summer?
Thompson: Being a better leader, finishing at the rim through contact consistently, and being consistent in everything I do.

Phenom: What has it been like getting the early recognition about your game and style of play?
Thompson: It has been cool. It puts a bigger target on my back, but it makes me want to work even harder every day.

Phenom: Who do you look up to as a model for your game?
Thompson: Jalen Brunson. Hoping to be a better leader; adding that to my game.

Phenom: Very early in your recruitment, but any dream schools for you by chance?
Thompson: Arizona, North Carolina, Duke, Illinois, and UConn.

Phenom: What is it about them that stands out?
Thompson: Just always has been my dream schools and a good atmospheres.
