With several 2027 rankings being released from outlets, Phenom Hoops recently got in touch with a rising prospect and one that is starting to earn a lot more attention his way. 2027 6’5 Brandon Mason Jr., the son of Brandon Mason who played at New Mexico State from 1999-2003, has been taking his game to another level this season and college programs are becoming aware of the potential in this rising guard. Mason, who suits up for Albuquerque Prep, continues to flourish with his scoring ability and potential as he continues to get bigger and stronger.
He recently added yet another offer from Arizona State, as his list continues to grow early on. Here is what he had to say in the latest with Phenom Hoops.
Most recent offer from Arizona State:
“My coach and my father told me I received the offer since I can’t receive calls yet. I know my father always spoke highly of Arizona State because he played again Eddie House in the NIT in 2000. Also, they have a great coaching staff. Playing on the Grind Session, I’ve spent a lot of time in the Phoenix area the last two years, and they are a big-time school and big-time program overall.”
Thoughts on receiving early offers:
“Honestly, it just makes me want to continue to work harder every day. I know I’m thin and I have a ways to go, but receiving each offer makes me more and more hungry.”
He holds offers from Arizona State, Sam Houston State, New Mexico, Nevada, TCU, Washington, Green Bay, San Jose State, Southern Utah, CSUN, Little Rock, and UMKC.
Game Description:
“I’d say I’m a 4-level scorer; I can finish at the rim well, get to my spots in the mid-range and shoot the ball over defenders, and I can knock down the three as well as knock down free throws at a high percentage. I have good court awareness and can always find the open man when getting downhill. I rebound at a high level and I have good timing for blocking shots.
