A player that Phenom Hoops has been extremely high and has only gotten better over the last year or so has been the big man from Tennessee Impact, 2026 6’8 Trey Thompson. Thompson as been a standout countless times before on our platform and high-major schools are starting to make him a priority. Before, Thompson held offers from Appalachian State, Xavier, Purdue, Stetson, Butler, Liberty, Belmont, and others but he has added two new ones from Virginia Tech and Tennessee this week.
We quickly got in touch with the rising big man from Tennessee to discuss the two latest. He also said that schools like Nebraska, LSU, Clemson, Liberty, Harvard, Mississippi State, and Furman have expressed strong interest in his way.

Tennessee Offer:
“The Tennessee offer is a great offer that I am very grateful to have received since it’s right in our backyard. The coaches there really like to build a family-type relationship and have been keeping in touch with me every so often. They like the options that I bring to the floor as in the shooting ability and the IQ and awareness on the floor as well. We have been in contact for around 5 months give or take. What I like about the program is the fact that they are a winning program and have found success at many positions including the 3/4 spot. They have a great atmosphere for any sport, with a great fan base.”
Virginia Tech:
“Virginia Tech is a wonderful campus that reminds me of home. Again, great coaching staff with guys familiar with where I am from. They also love the loyalty and great character that I have presented… they told me if you have those attributes then you will go a long way. Their program is amazing, they have recruited me for my shooting ability and pass-making skills as well.”
