2026 Lance Barnes has been a strong prospect in the state of South Carolina, which has consistently produced over the years. He has been able to shine at SC Top 80 camps with Phenom Hoops, at LEC this past high school season, and has now been doing the same with Upward Stars 3SSB this spring. Barnes is one that we have highlighted on several occasions, most recently being at the Phenom Grassroots TOC, where we said this. Check out more about his game along with the latest in his recruitment, as we were able to catch up with him at the Phenom Challenge in Spartanburg (SC).
What Was Said Recently by Phenom Hoops:
“Barnes had a really good high school season, and I think he will carry that over this summer with Upward. He is a good-sized point guard who shows he can do a little bit of everything, but also still has potential in his game. Barnes is at his best when he is attacking and creating, getting inside the defense as well as finding open teammates. But he impacts the game in a variety of other ways.”
“Good size for a PG with a well-rounded skillset. Does a great job putting the guys around him in positions to succeed while maintaining a good level of aggressiveness when searching for his offense. Can play in a variety of lineups due to his positional size, strength, and high basketball IQ. Expect him to have a bevy of quality division one options when it’s time for him to make a decision.”
Recruitment Latest:
Once again, Barnes had a very good high school in helping contribute to his team at Legacy, and schools are keeping an eye his way. Right now, he has earned offers from Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, and South Carolina State, while schools like Harvard and Clemson are continuing to express interest and keep tabs his way. Coastal Carolina could be one to watch with Barnes, as they have been consistent with him throughout, keeping in touch with Barnes every week, and he has hopes of making another visit to the campus in the future.
