It was a big night at Marvin Ridge on Wednesday, as we had a record-setting night on the girls’ side. Marvin Ridge took on Cuthbertson and eventually walked away with an impressive win. Marvin Ridge came out red-hot, jumped out to an early double-digit lead, and never looked back in the first quarter, as they continued to build upon it throughout. The main reason was the play of 2026 6’0 Kate Schindler who simply went off and set a new Union County single-game scoring record with 58 points.
Watching the game, she came out red hot with her first shot being from the corner for three. That was just the start of what would be a tremendous night for the junior guard. Time after time, she moved well without the ball, looked to find the open spots in the defense, and displayed a ton of confidence in her ability to knock down shots. But again, it wasn’t just the three-ball that was working, as she was relentless on defense, attacked off the dribble and ran in transition, was able to play within the offense and find other teammates, and just had an impact all over the court.
Her range and shot-making though were quite impressive, getting to her spots with or without the ball and simply letting it fly, as she didn’t miss many. All of this was part of the recipe that allowed her to finish with 58 points in the win, setting an impressive record.
Schindler has been offered and showed why she is a target for many D1 schools in the Class of 2026, and we expect that trend to only continue with her size, her IQ and feel, and the shot-making ability that she showed on Wednesday night.
