Heading into the Class of 2026, Phenom Hoops recently caught up with a rising guard from Texas in 2026 Cameron Lomax. Lomax is one that holds offers from Arizona State, SMU, LSU, Memphis, UNLV, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, and he recently posted that he took a visit to Arizona State the other week.
Phenom Hoops was able to catch up with the guard to learn more about his visit, what did he get to do and see, and what impressed him on his visit. We also dive into more about the relationship the program and he has developed. Finally, he gives us some information on two upcoming visits as well.
Phenom: What all were you able to check out on your visit to Arizona State?
Lomax: I just toured the campus and saw the practice facilities, as well as watch the game.
Phenom: What were some things that stood out on your visit?
Lomax: One thing that stood out the most to me is how Coach Hurley coached. He’s a big-time player’s coach and all the coaches were cool. They all looked like they enjoyed their jobs and wanted to be there every day! And I loved how Coach Hurley just let his hoopers hoop and I loved that, especially with the way I play.
Phenom: How hard have they been recruiting you?
Lomax: Pretty hard. Coach Larson texts me almost every other day and Coach Hurley even came to see me a couple of weeks ago. They definitely talk to me the most, along with SMU.
Phenom: Where might they stand in your eyes after your visit and the relationship you have built with them?
Lomax: I’m still exploring options and stuff right now, but I loved the school and the whole coaching staff, so they are definitely on the list.
Phenom: Any upcoming visits?
Lomax: Yes sir. I go to Texas Tech on January 11th and Oklahoma on February 1st, both unofficials. Those are my only two as of right now.
