Out in California, schools are quickly starting to notice the 6’6 freshman from Narbonne High School as Maximo Adams already has earned strong offers and just added his first Pac-12 off from Oregon.  Phenom Hoops was able to get in touch with Adams early on to learn more about his game, get his thoughts on the offer from the Ducks, and some of the schools he would like to visit down the road.

Check out what he had to say in a recent interview…

Phenom: How has it been early on for you as a freshman playing, and what has been your mindset and role with your team so far'
Adams: Early on, it has been great playing with older players and learning throughout the process. I’d say my role on the team is being a shooter, ready to knock down shots when needed, and being a great defender to help the team.

Phenom: How has this season been going overall'
Adams: It has been going well. We are on a 5-game win streak right now and we are doing better each game.

Phenom: How do you think this early playing time will help you down the road' What has it shown you'
Adams: Yes, it will definitely help down the road getting all this experience from playing against these teams and my teammates.

Phenom: Recruitment is off to a great start. Thoughts on the early success and recognition from college programs'
Adams: Very glad and blessed that I’m getting all this recruitment early on. Thanks to my coaches and teammates, I feel comfortable playing with confidence.

Phenom: Oregon is the latest to offer. Thoughts on that program' What do you know about them'
Adams: They have an up-tempo style of play and the ball moves around, and everyone gets shots.  Great program and coaching staff, and also a great city.

Phenom: A school not far from you for the most part. Have you followed them before and any interest level early with them'
Adams: Yes of course, I have been a fan of the basketball team for a while now, ever since I took a trip to Portland when I was younger, I liked the team.

Phenom: Any thoughts on the other offers you hold early on'
Adams: Happy to have those offers. UMKC, Cal Baptist, and Mississippi State are all good programs also.

Phenom: Have any dream schools'
Adams: Not at the moment, just focused on stacking up my offers and getting more recognition.

Phenom: Any schools that you would like to visit down the road at some point'
Adams: North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA, Gonzaga, Oregon, Duke, Virginia, Baylor, and USC.

Phenom: Why do those schools make your list as far as hopeful visits down the road'
Adams: To me, they stand out the most on social media, and most of those schools are top in the rankings.
