Back in Texas, Phenom Hoops was able to catch up with a highly intriguing prospect who continues to blossom into a prospect to watch. 2026 6’8 Billy White III is a name that is quickly catching on with programs around the country, as he is trending with several high major programs. He recently made a trip to Texas and walked away with an offer, adding to an impressive resume. 

Phenom Hoops spoke to him about his summer and development and his mindset heading into the upcoming season. He also discussed his latest offer from the Longhorns and his recruitment.

Summer Ball and Focus on Development

“It has been really good,” White said when asked how his summer went.  “My development in terms of ball-handling and shot creation has really improved. I’m getting stronger and better every day.”

When talking to White about his game, he would describe himself as a shotmaker who can defend and rebound, and being 6’10 only makes him even more intriguing. He looks to provide leadership on the court and be a double-double type prospect, showing that he can impact the game in a variety of ways and play multiple positions.  But the work isn’t done, as White is continuing to put in work this offseason as his confidence continues to grow.

“Getting more confidence in my ball handling, as well as developing a post-game,” White said about his development and focus. “My goals are to win state and receive All-State and average a double-double (this season.”

Recruitment Update:

White certainly has the attention of many programs already and deservingly so. He recently made a trip to Texas, a program that has been recruiting and showing interest his way since June. After his visit, he walked away with an offer from Texas, one that he is excited to have.

“I was excited to receive an offer from Texas,” White said.  “They like my ability to make shots from anywhere as well as rebounding and defending multiple positions. The coaches like that I make the simple basketball play as well. I really like all the coaches and they all seem to take an interest in me and my game, as well as me as a person.”

Texas is the latest school to offer, but White also holds offers from Ole Miss, LSU, Wichita State, TCU, Texas State, Tennessee, Sam Houston, Nevada, UTSA, and others.  In regards of who has been strong with him early, White informed Phenom Hoops that TCU, LSU, Tennessee, and Ole Miss are the ones who have been reaching out a lot. Furthermore, schools like LSU and Tennessee are ones he would be highly interested in visiting.

“They are schools that are really interested in me and the coaches all want to get me on campus to show me the facilities and how their programs are ran.”
