Player: Sidney Blackwell
Class: 2025
School: Porter Ridge
Lady Phenom was out and about last week at the Carolina Rise Summer Showcase, getting an early chance to check out talent of all levels and ages. We saw several intriguing prospects on the court, as we wanted to dive more into the talent we saw.
One player that caught our eye with her play was 2025 Sidney Blackwell from Porter Ridge. She is coming off two impressive seasons and has a chance to make even bigger waves with her play as a junior this year. She finished averaging 11.1ppg as a freshman and backed that up with an impressive sophomore campaign in which she averaged 16.3ppg. And in that sophomore season, she shot 42 percent from the floor and also hit 72 3-pointers.
Now, Blackwell has a chance to really make a big impression with her play and she started it off well with what we saw at the event. She was extremely crafty and creative with the ball in her hands, doing extremely well in smoothly creating, getting downhill, and creating space to find her shot. And she also displayed that confident shot-making ability with range as well from time to time, really bringing a balanced attack. When you watch her operate, she plays at a great pace, understands how to be an effective scoring weapon as well as get others involved, and just make smart play after smart play.
This is why she is one that I believe is going a bit under the radar and should be on more college coaches’ radars. Expect big things from her this season and hear her name pop up more.
