A prospect to keep an eye on out in Ohio should be 2025 6’7 Landon Vanderwarker, who is a 6’7 prospect that is garnering more attention and could see an uptick in his recruitment. The sophomore prospect has already been able to get a look at a few programs and they have expressed interest.
Vanderwarker has made multiple visits already to schools like Ohio, Miami, Furman, Virginia, Ohio State, and the latest to West Virginia. He went to Furman back in October, Virginia back in November, and Ohio State in December. And his visit to West Virginia was the most recent.
He discussed his thoughts on each visit with Phenom Hoops.
West Virginia Visit:
“It was good. Got to meet Coach Huggins and the staff. Watched shoot around and got a tour of the facility. Then we went to the game vs. Texas. The atmosphere was great. My AAU coach has been in touch with Coach Huggins and that’s how I got to go on the visit. I really haven’t had any other interest from WVU.”
Virginia / Furman Visits:
“Coach Getter came and watched a 6 am workout at my school and invited us to come to visit in Nov. We were there all day. They let me get shots up in their practice facility in the morning, went to shoot around and then we went and saw the campus. Met with Coach Bennett for like 45 minutes and that was awesome. The facilities were legit and the staff made my whole family feel welcome. Furman was really nice too. Coach Johnson and Coach Growe are awesome. Coach Richey too.”
Ohio State Visit:
“It was good. I was there with 4 other guys, so it wasn’t like the UVA and Furman visits that were just me. I really like Coach Holtman and the other coaches. OSU would be an awesome place to play.”
“I am a 6’7 shooting guard who can handle the rock. I’m a three-level scorer who averages double figures in rebounds and can guard all 5 position if I’m asked to. I want to win.”
