Phenom Hoops continues to bring you the latest recruiting news around the country, as we spoke with 2025 6’3 Kayden Edwards down in Texas. A strong scoring guard has been stepping up big for his team this year, and college programs have taken notice. He recently added a new offer from Auburn, but he holds several other high-major offers. We spoke to him about all the latest.

Game Breakdown

“I can shoot the leather off the ball but if you step up, I’m really fast and can get to the rim anytime I want to. My favorite player is Westbrook, so I like getting to the rim like him but my shot and how I create are like Devin Booker.”

High School Season

“Everything has been going well. I’ve stepped into a new role leading this team of young guys. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I have trust in God and know he won’t ever put me in a position I can’t handle. I have embraced it by listening to my coach when he gets on me in practice, listening to my dad, and just listening to the right people in my circle. I just want to show how I’m a three-level flat-out scorer who can do it on the highest level but I can also lock up the best player on whatever team we play.”

Recruitment Update

“It has been a blessing thanks to the man above I am where I am,” when asked about how his recruitment has been going. His latest offer came from Auburn, but this is a staff that has developed a strong relationship with him. His main contact has been Coach Corey Williams, who actually offered Edwards when he was at Texas Tech.

“Coach Williams, he gave me my first D1 offer my freshman year when he was at Texas Tech and followed me when he went to Auburn. Now they just offered but Coach Williams has been to a lot of my games. I don’t know a whole lot about Auburn basketball but I guess that will come later on in my recruitment.”

Edwards also holds offers from TCU, SMU, Arkansas, UCF, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, and California, with TCU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, SMU, and Auburn being the strong schools recruiting him these days.

Edwards has also already visited Arkansas, TCU, and SMU, and he plans on making more visits and scheduling them really soon.
