2025 Kamryn Kitchen has been a proven prospect here in North Carolina, as the now rising junior came off a very good sophomore campaign at Independence high school and backed that up with a strong showing with Team Curry 17u.
Kitchen certainly has had the attention of college programs around the country, as she has been able to rack up an impressive list already of offers but we have a feeling that won’t stop any time soon. Lady Phenom recently spoke with Kitchen to catch up on the latest, discussing her summer, her excitement about the upcoming season, and a little update on her recruitment.
See what she had to say below.
Lady Phenom: How did everything go this summer for you as far as basketball goes'
Kitchen: It has been good. We played really good competition. I’ve been challenged as a player a lot too, in all aspects.
Lady Phenom: How was it playing with Team Curry this summer and how did it help your game'
Kitchen: Our coaches have made sure we are always playing the best competition. Playing the best competition, I have grown on the defensive and offensive side a lot. Guarding the best players and being guarded by the best players. I have definitely grown on the defensive side a lot.
Lady Phenom: What was your focus personally in your game you were hoping to develop this summer'
Kitchen: I was really hoping to be smarter on defense. I can get it done on the offensive end and being able to guard the best players takes my game to another level.
Lady Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Kitchen: I play with a chip on my shoulder. I have a very quick release, can get to my spots on the court to get my shot off, and I use my length to my advantage on defense.
Lady Phenom: What is your excitement about the upcoming season with your high school team'
Kitchen: I’m pretty excited about this high school season. We have a solid group with a lot of passion. I can’t wait to get back on the court with our PG Kaylee Carson; she will be a big piece this year. If we play our basketball all season, I think we will go far.
Lady Phenom: How has your recruitment been going overall'
Kitchen: It has been going well. I’ve made some really good relationships with some great coaches. Hopefully, after this weekend, recruitment will pick up a little bit more.
Lady Phenom: What offers do you currently hold'
Kitchen: Penn State, Louisville, Illinois, Kentucky, Marquette, Boston College, Syracuse, Harvard, Columbia, Clemson, Virginia, Charlotte, James Madison, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, George Washington, and a few others.
Lady Phenom: Have any schools you been able to visit'
Kitchen: Not really. The schools that have shown heavy interest have all offered me.
Lady Phenom: When might you be looking to decide or narrow down' Any time soon'
Kitchen: I don’t plan on narrowing down or deciding any time soon. I just know I’d like to be committed before senior year of high school.
Lady Phenom: Any schools that you would like to visit in the future'
Kitchen: I’m still figuring out some schools that I would like to visit this year.
