The Phenom PG Nationals brought a lot of talent of all levels to the court over the weekend, and there are college programs that should be taking notice even with the transfer portal heating up. One player that we were interested in watching was 2025 guard Julian Rivera and watching him, he proved that he could help a D1 program and have the attention of several other schools.

It can be difficult to be under the microscope with a team that boosts some incredible talent, but Rivera proved that he can help a program as he continues to grow and develop. Over the years, Rivera has shown IQ, feel, pace, and effective scoring on the court. He does a great job in helping run the show offensively, displaying good instincts and court awareness. Rivera is able to thrive from multiple levels, whether it is finishing tough and creating paint touches, scoring well over defenders but also being a threat in knocking down jumpers from multiple levels. On the other hand, he is one who plays within what the team needs, facilitating well, competing on both sides of the ball, is a savvy point guard, and knows how to conduct an offense. And again, that doesn’t mention his scrappy and impactful presence on the defensive end.

This is why, in the world we live in with the transfer portal, Rivera is one that proved he can come in and make an impact for a program.

What Was Said:

“Getting another view of Rivera, I couldn’t help but enjoy what he provided on the court for his team. He continues to step up as a leader and as a true playmaker, as he simply just got it done when he needed. Rivera plays with tremendous pace and feel, showcasing his ability to lead the offense and initiate the offense as well as create scoring opportunities for himself. He attacked the paint, finished well over defenders inside, made smart decisions in getting others involved, brought a gritty overall feel on the court, and truly proved to be a true competitor. Watching him this weekend, there is no way you could walk away and not be impressed with what he showed.”

“2025 Julian Rivera was highly impressive throughout the weekend. Tough creator, was able to consistently get paint touches, great feel in finding teammates, and made some tough shots/plays. #PhenomPGNationals”
