A rising point guard to look out for, 2025 Lance Stone from Detroit Renaissance has continued to see his recruitment pick up, as college programs see his ability to truly run the show on the court. One that gets everyone involved, makes great decisions, is a playmaker, and one that can score, Stone holds multiple offers and just received a big offer from an SEC program. We caught up with Stone to talk about how his season is going, his thoughts on the offer from Vanderbilt, and what else has been going on.

Phenom: How has the season been overall for you and your team? What was your mindset for the year?
Stone: Our team’s season has been good, as we have been competitive in every game having a record of 18-6 as we head into the District Championship. Our mindset is locking in to win a state championship.

Phenom: What were you hoping to show more about your game this year and how have you stepped up for your team?
Stone: I was hoping to show how I can score and get teammates involved at the same time and I’ve stepped up with my leadership this year.

Phenom: How would you describe your game?
Stone: A true point guard.

Phenom: What has been going on in your recruitment? Thoughts on the latest offer from Vanderbilt? What do you know about them?
Stone: With my recruitment, it has been really steady, talking to the same schools and coaches. I am excited about the offer from Vanderbilt and want to learn more and see what the school is about. I know that they are a school that plays in the SEC and is coached by Jerry Stackhouse.

Phenom: How long have they been showing interest? How did you hear about the offer?
Stone: They have been showing interest since the start of my junior year. I was on the phone with Coach Stackhouse when he told me about the offer.

Phenom: What did they have to say when they offered, and do you have plans of visiting?
Stone: He said he has been keeping up with my year and he liked the season I was having, and they will be coming to see me play during the AAU season. I don’t have a visit set up but would love to down the road.

Phenom: What other offers do you hold?
Stone: I hold offers from Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Morehouse, Toledo, High Point, and Vanderbilt, with Toledo and Eastern Michigan reaching out the most.

Phenom: What other schools have shown interest?
Stone: I hold interest from Western Michigan, Missouri, Kansas State, and Michigan State.
