Heading up north to the Hoophall Classic, Phenom Hoops had a great opportunity to learn and check in some impressive talent. One player that we were really impressed with was 2025 6’2 Markell Alston from Christ the King. On the day, Alston finished the day with 24 points going 11-for-13 from the floor while also dishing out five assists.

The point guard was able to excel in getting to his spots and knocking down shots from a variety of levels; he was able to stretch the floor from behind the arc from time to time, was able to create strong off the bounce and get to his mid-range game, or get his defender on his hip and make plays in getting to the rim. He played with a nice feel and pace to his game, making strong reads, had good floor vision, and made good decisions. Alston brings that tough, gritty feel to the court but is a playmaker with the ball in his hands; I was impressed with his overall balance on both ends and the energy he brought while leading his team both in helping run the show and be a strong offensive option.

Right now, he holds offers from NJIT, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Illinois, UAB, George Mason, Manhattan, and Creighton, and in several recent articles from national outlets, Seton Hall has been a program in constant contact with others showing interest. (Click Here)
