Kyle “KJ” Greene Jr. is a well-known name around Phenom Hoops, especially with seeing him down in South Carolina. He was regarded as one of the top players in his class for the state at the time but he recently announced that he would be transferring to Pace in Georgia, looking to make his mark there as well.

It was a tremendous Thursday for Greene and his recruitment, as he racked in his first three offers, two of which came from high-major programs.  Phenom Hoops caught up with him on the latest, his excitement playing at Pace, and much more.

Phenom: Wanted to first ask you about your decision to head to Pace.  What is your excitement about playing there in the future'

Greene: Well, with Pace, I see a great opportunity.  With them coming fresh off a trip to GEICO Nationals and back-to-back state championships, I'm very excited to join the winning culture here at Pace.  I'm also very excited to learn from a man like Coach White, who has won a lot of state championships and is the coach for Team USA.  He and all the coaches at Pace are giving me all the blueprints to be the player I want to be.  I'm excited to see what player I can become in the future.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game these days and what is your focus in developing this summer'

Greene: I feel that I play at my own, smooth pace. I can create off the dribble for myself and my teammates.  I'm a true point guard who can score also.  This summer, I really want to work on hitting shots more consistently and getting stronger.

Phenom: How does it feel to snag some big early offers your way'

Greene: It still feels a little surreal, to think that yesterday I didn't have any, and today, I have three. It's really a blessing. All of these offers are really just motivation to keep going; they let me know that what I'm doing is right and I should keep going.

Phenom: How did you hear about them'

Greene: I heard about the first one from the head coach of my AAU program (Upward Stars) Coach Curt and the latest one I heard about from my AAU coach, Coach Chavis.

Phenom: I know you are quite familiar with South Carolina.  What was it like to get an offer from them early'

Greene: To get an offer from South Carolina was big to me because I grew up seeing Carolina basketball and football. I can remember going to games as a kid and now know I could be in the shoes of the same people I once grew up watching, it really excites me.

Phenom: What are your thoughts on Texas A&M and NC A&T early on as well'

Greene: With Texas A&M being the first to offer, it really just showed me how much they believed in me and that is really special.  Coach Williams produces pros and that is my ultimate goal, so I really like Texas A&M.  With NC A&T being an HBCU, the school really interests me.  They offer top-level athletics while also providing the unforgettable experience of an HBCU school and I really just like the school as a whole.

Phenom: Do you know who else has been showing interest your way early on'

Greene: Yes, Butler is the only other schools I've heard from so far.
