2024 Kany Tchanda has been a prospect we have had the pleasure of watching over the last few years, first with Concord Academy and then when he went to Winston Salem Christian.  And now, he will be looking to make his mark with Sunrise Christian this upcoming season, as he recently announced he would be transferring there.

But before he left, we had a tremendous opportunity to check in on Tchanda and his development in one of our latest events.   The 6’9 forward has missed some time before, but he looks to be back on the court and looking to make a statement.  Before watching him in the last month, here is what we had to say about his game:

“He displays touch and the ability to regularly finish above the rim offensively, but can also knock down jumpers from midrange or beyond the arc. Tchanda is a quality rebounder and overall athlete who knows how to protect the rim and run the floor properly in transition. Again, his continued progression could lead to him becoming an absolutely unstoppable force. Folks should watch closely.”

Fast forward to the last month, Tchanda impressed with not only being back on the court and being a force but also showing more of his potential and impact.  He has tremendous length and looks strong with his movement, running the floor, showing and finishing strong in the paint and at the basket, displaying his ability to be a fluid big, and one that can impact the game on both sides of the floor. He has tremendous defensive instincts, looks stronger and fully capable of finishing strong at the rim, and is adding more pieces to his game.

Right now, Tchanda holds multiple offers including Morgan State, Charlotte, Wichita State, Fresno State, Texas A&M, SMU, Charleston, Sam Houston State, Providence, Mississippi State, Arizona State, and Loyola Marymount. But in speaking with Coach Lowe before he left, schools like Arizona State, Mississippi State, UMass, DePaul, Clemson, and Creighton were the programs that were making a strong impression.
