2024 6’7 Caleb Williams from Sidwell High School/ Team Takeover has been a hot target for many, as he has been racking in offers and really showcasing his development as a player. He just added another offer from an ACC school and took a visit to Maryland, as he spoke with Phenom Hoops all about the latest and his summer. Check out what he had to say.

Phenom: How has this summer overall been going for you' How has it been playing for Team Takeover and playing on the big stage'
Williams: This summer has been going great. It has been great to compete at the highest levels with Team Takeover and Sidwell, while embracing and getting familiar with the whole recruiting process. Playing with Team Takeover has been awesome. I really enjoy playing with this group of guys and we have come together as a team very well. I'm excited to get back out there with them in July.
Phenom: What has been different from last summer to this summer for you as far as basketball' What areas have you noticed that you have improved in'
Williams: This summer, I think I've worked on improving a lot of my skills but most importantly, I think I've improved the most on my body. I feel a lot stronger, quicker, and more explosive/athletic. I still want to improve on my body, but I feel that this is something I've been focusing on a lot lately. I also feel like m confidence has grown a lot since last summer. I stepped up into a big role with Sidwell this winter and a bigger role with Team Takeover. I think improving my body has helped me become more impactful. Whether getting to my spots offensively, which allows me to create shots for myself, or make plays for guys around me as well, being able to play a lot better defense, as well as being able to rebound.
Phenom: How would you best describe your game as a player'
Williams: I would say I'm a versatile, taller guard who is able to create offensively in different ways. Whether that is making shots or making plays for my teammates. I also feel like I am able to use my size well to guard any position and rebound the ball at a good rate.
Phenom: Recruitment has taken off.' How have you been handling all the latest'
Williams: I feel like I've been handling it pretty well.' It was a lot when the LIVE contact period first started and was all new to me but as time went on, I adjusted.
Phenom: Latest offers have been from Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, George Washington, USF, VCU, etc. What has been the general message you way in what they like about you and what you can provide'
Williams: The general message was that they like my feel for the game and the way I have improved over time. Whether it is with shot-making or just impacting the game in general, being a high IQ guy who can see the floor and use my size to my advantage.
Phenom: What schools would you say have been really making an early strong push and really seem to be making you a priority early on'
Williams: Out of the schools that have offered, I've spent the most time talking to Ole Miss, Maryland, Penn State, Georgia Tech, USF, Virginia Tech, and Harvard.
Phenom: Virginia Tech was your first offer. What have they been continuing to say your way'
Williams: Yes, Virginia Tech was my first offer. I've known Coach Mike Jones since I was really young, so we have a pretty solid understanding of each other already.' He has talked to me a lot about what t is like at Virginia Tech, whether that's the fanbase, or the culture they have, and just has really expressed to me his love for the game and how much they would love to have me.
Phenom: You just visited Maryland. Thoughts on that program'
Williams: I have an offer from them and I visited them with the new coaching staff and it went well. The program has a good history of winning and it was good to hear Coach Willard's plan as the new coach in order to be successful.
Phenom: What did the new staff say to you'
Williams: They were just saying how much they enjoyed my feel for the game and how I made the people around me better on the court.
Phenom: Any other visits that you have planned'
Williams: Currently working on something to set up with Virginia Tech but nothing on the calendar yet.
