We continue to highlight players and topics from this past weekend, as we had a great weekend of basketball here in North Carolina. One topic that we were intrigued with watching and really impressed with was the play of 2024 6’6 Amari Latham for Goldsboro.
Goldsboro may have a few different leaders, but Latham has only continued and elevated his play to be the go-to guy for his team, and he put on a show at the Hoops & Dreams Showcase this past weekend. The Cougars sit undefeated on the season early on, and Latham is a big reason why. He went up against St. Paul’s at the event, finishing with an impressive 29-point performance to help lead his team to the win.
Latham is a 6’6 athletic and versatile player on the court, able to shine in several roles on the floor, operate from many levels, and continue to expand his game. At the event, he was strong out in transition, able to attack the rim and the paint, create off the bounce, and knock down shots from outside. He continues to flourish in so many roles for his team, as he continues to be consistent on the court with his presence.
We had this to say back in 2022:
“Amari is long and athletic at around 6’5. He has the ability to dominate the game on both ends of the floor and can fill up the stat sheet. He’s a great finisher around the basket and has added some ball handling, passing skills and range on his jump shot to his game to make him more of a threat. Defensively he can guard any position on the floor making him a very reliable and important player for his team.” – Aug 2022
Latham is an unsigned senior who deserves more attention and has shown that he can be a presence in so many facets of the game.
