2023 Evan Ashe has been a hot name over the last month and was a big-time prospect at the Phenom Summer Havoc, as he was a human highlight reel with his play all weekend long.  Ashe is a big-time athlete that can push opponents at the rim but has only continued to develop his overall feel for the game and he is hoping to continue to show his development on the big stage.

'I wanted to come out and show more of my game, both offensively and defensively. I feel like I'm underrated but have been getting recent buzz,' Ashe told Phenom Hoops. 'I'm a very good finisher at the rim but I can also do a lot of other things. I'm a very good passer, take a lot of pride in my defense. So those are the other things that you see with my game outside of the highlights.'

Ashe put on an absolute show, having multiple 20+ point performances, several highlight dunks, and really captured the attention of college coaches that were sitting baseline.  That is why his recruitment has been seeing an uptick.

Recruitment:

In the last month, Ashe was able to earn his first Division I from Hofstra, an offer that really took some pressure off his shoulders and was just the start for him.

'Obviously they enjoy how I can score the ball and what not, be a good defender,' Ashe said about Hofstra. 'I know a little bit about them. They said they liked my energy and things outside of basketball like me being positive, handling adversity, and just looking to progress.  It was a really big offer for me. It has been a long journey, so I just felt relieved (when receiving that offer).'

Several other schools have been reaching out to Ashe.  Schools like Rutgers, Binghamton, Wake Forest, Clemson, VCU, Holy Cross, Towson, and several others have expressed interest in Ashe.  Rutgers was on deck at the Summer Havoc for all his games, while Towson was another program on deck as well, eventually offering him after his performance in South Carolina. He later added yet another offer from Binghamton.
