One of the top unsigned seniors here in North Carolina, 2023 Derin Saran will certainly have his choices of colleges to go to in the coming years. Holding double-digit offers, Saran’s recruitment looks to be coming to an end, as he spoke with Phenom Hoops about the latest and when he may be looking to decide.
Phenom: You received new offers recently. What have those schools been saying your way'
Saran: My most recent offers include Wyoming, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, and LIU. We are in frequent contact, just keeping each other updated. Everyone including myself is eager to finalize my campus visits in April.
Phenom: Do you know which schools you want to visit'
Saran: It is a tough decision. I won’t be able to visit them all. And it is likely that I may receive a few more offers in the coming weeks. I plan to make my final decision in April.
Phenom: What schools would you say have been recruiting you the hardest'
Saran: Each school makes me feel needed.
Phenom: What will be some of the deciding factors in your decision' What are you looking for'
Saran: Important to me that I can contribute to the program immediately and where I can develop my game for the next level. So the conference and the level of play are important, as the high likelihood of competing in March Madness. The academics and the community are also important.
