2023 Davin Cosby Jr. has been one of the biggest stock risers this summer, as the 6’5 guard from Virginia has been elevating his game, showing his continued development this summer, and was able to cap it all off at the Adidas All-American Camp.  His recruitment has also been taking off in the last month, as he has added offers from Towson, Hampton, Fordham, Alabama, California, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Siena, USF, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Akron, and Murray State just in the month of July.  And it might not stop there.

We spoke with Cosby about the latest, how his summer has gone, who has been really making him a priority, his upcoming visits, and when he is looking to narrow down and ultimately decide.

Phenom: How has this summer been? What was it like to cap it off at the Adidas All-American Camp?
Cosby: This summer has been great for me. All the work I put in with my trainer MJ Wynn is translating to the game.  I’m blessed to be a part of the All-American camp. It was a great experience with the trainers, the community service, and the other talented players.

Phenom: How do you think your game has improved over the last year or so? How has your game elevated in your eyes?
Cosby: My game has improved a lot just because of my confidence.  When I developed confidence in my game, it made basketball easy in my eyes.  The mind controls a lot more than I thought and I figured that out in the past year.

Phenom: Recruitment has taken off, with offers rolling in. Especially in the month of July, what is it like to get those offers and have those schools come your way? Have you been able to soak it all in?
Cosby: It is a blessing. I just want to make my family proud and with all these offers coming, it feels good.  This is what my dad prayed for every night while he was here, but I know he is in heaven watching over me with a big smile on my face.

Phenom: What schools have really been making a strong push for you as of today?
Cosby: Alabama, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, California, Maryland, USF, and Vanderbilt.

Phenom: Who has been contacting you consistently?
Cosby: Alabama and Wake Forest contact the most.

Phenom: What have they been saying your way?
Cosby: Setting up visit dates and how much I would impact the team if I came and how they love my game.

Phenom: What visits do you have set up or any specific dates?
Cosby: July 29-30 to Wake Forest, and it isn’t finalized but September 3rd to Alabama.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest your way but have yet to offer?
Cosby: Virginia, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Mississippi State, and Temple.

Phenom: What are you looking for in a school in general?
Cosby: Looking to play, staff, and players feel like family. Skill development, can help me go pro, and if I fit in the system.

Phenom: Any decision time frame or when you may want to narrow down?
Cosby: I’m going to cut my list on August 21 (my birthday). Planning to announce my commitment on January 11 (my dad’s birthday).
