One of the better guards in the state of North Carolina has recently announced that he will be heading to Lake Norman and teaming up with his AAU coach Grant Hodges, giving the Wildcats another intriguing prospect, a shooter, and a playmaker in the coming years.

“I am going to miss my Pine Lake teammates and coaches but I am excited to move to a bigger school and bigger 4A conference,” Callaway told Phenom Hoops.  “I have really enjoyed playing for Coach Hodges and the Carolina Riptide this past fall and spring. I have been playing with some really good Lake Norman players this spring like Davis Wagner, Alexis Gruber, Bobby Addison, and AJ Newton and look forward to becoming a Wildcat with them next year”

Lake Norman finished 4-9 last year but with Callaway’s scoring ability, especially from the perimeter, it should give Hodges another key piece next season immediately. Callaway had a tremendous season last year at Pine Lake Prep, averaging 15.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, helping Pine Lake to a 15-2 overall record. He also earned All-Conference and All-District honors as the leading scorer as a sophomore.

Callways is receiving interest from Liberty, College of Charleston, Charlotte, Mars Hill, VMI, Queens, and Franklin & Marshall College.

What has Phenom Hoops said:

“Moving onto a player that continues to further his reputation as one of the top three-point shooters in North Carolina, Cole Callaway. He’s a young, smart, well-rounded guard prospect that has added a noticeable amount of strength and skill over the last few months. Callaway is a lethal shooter but showed his ability to get involved in all facets of the game during camp.” – Phenom evaluation

“Cole is one of the best shooters in the state. Every time he shoots the ball; you feel like it is going in. Cole is getting stronger and getting more fluidity into his game which will help take his game to another level. Shooters translate at every level!” – Tyler Lewis
