If you attended the Phenom Holiday Classic last year, you may remember 2023 6'5 Shamarrie Hugie who was with Franklin Prep at the time.  Now, the young man will be looking to make his mark down in Georgia, as he announced that he would be transferring to Alfred Ely Beach high school.  A prospect with his versatility, his length and size, and his upside, Hugie is hoping he can make a splash at his new place.

'Georgia has shown a lot of love to me sports-related and personally, but I still got a lot to prove,' Hugie told Phenom Hoops.' But there is a lot of competition in Georgia and I like that so I'm ready for all the smoke.'

Hugie has been putting in the work, getting in the gym, and has been looking to put his name on the map.  He mentioned that he has been working mainly on his shooting and dribbling, trying to get that 'big guard status.'

With what we saw on the court, Hugie should be one to certainly monitor and college coaches will have him on their radar also; just check out more of his game of what was said by Phenom before.

As far as recruitment goes though, Hugie mentioned Texas A&M Commerce has been showing a lot of love his way early on, while other schools like South Alabama and a few other D2 schools have shown an array of interest as well.

What Has Been Said:

'Being part of a team with a ton of experienced players, Hugie is a long, athletic, and young prospect that continues to shine on a big stage. He utilizes his length very well on both sides of the floor, being active and showing the versatility to his game.' The young man has a lot of upside and certainly is one to watch as he progresses with his game and gets stronger.'

'Despite being the youngest player on the roster, it's easy to see the appeal with a prospect like Hugie. He's long, wiry, fairly versatile, and already quite productive on both ends of the floor. Hugie rebounds the ball well, utilizes his length nicely to block shots, and highlights a quality amount of skill for his size/position. He's active around the basket, capitalizes on second-chance opportunities, and can expand his production based on team need.'

'Although Franklin Prep trailed for the majority of this showing, Hugie was undeniably impressive and offered a reliable presence on both ends of the floor. He's the youngest player on the team but it would be difficult to identify without already knowing, given his IQ, mature approach, and nonstop production. Hugie can space the floor or finish strong around the basket, but is arguably at his best within ten to fifteen feet'where he highlights an exceptional array of floaters and pull-ups. He utilizes his length well as a rebounder, finisher, and as an all-around defender.'
