Phenom Hoops continues to bring you content surrounding the recruitment of players around the country.  Continuing to look at the Meanstreets program, Phenom got in touch with a forward that has been catching the attention of a few schools that have offered and other high-major programs in 2022 6'8 Robbie Avila.  He sat down with us to discuss all the latest and his thoughts on his most recent offer and what other schools have been showing interest his way.

Phenom: First off, you all are off to a great start this summer with the Meanstreets.  How has that been so far in your eyes and what have you been able to show with your game'
Avila: It's been fun playing with a great team with a great group of guys.  I think I've been able to showcase the way I can stretch the floor and shoot the three a lot with this team, and being able to show off how well I can pass also.

Phenom: What was this past high school season like for you'
Avila: This past high school season was different but still fun.  I saw a lot of different defenses thrown at me but we were still able to put together a great season and finish 11-2.

Phenom How would you best describe your game'
Avila: I would best describe it as a stretch big, being able to stretch the floor on offense and facilitate the ball like a guard, but also being able to use my size in the post as well.

Phenom: How has your recruitment been going'
Avila: Recruitment has been good.  I've picked up an offer from Appalachian State this past weekend; everything else is great.

Phenom: Congrats on the latest offer.  What did they have to say when they offered and how did you hear about it'
Avila: The head coach called me after watching some film and said he loved my game and thinks I'd be a great fit for their program and then they offered me; it was a good feeling.

Phenom: What are your thoughts on Richmond and Lehigh, two other recent offers'
Avila: Both are great programs with a great coaching staff.  All the coaches that I've talked to from both schools are good people and give off such good energy about their schools.

Phenom: Would you say any of the schools have been recruiting you the hardest at this time'
Avila: I think all the schools have been making me a priority for them.  But Loyola-Chicago, Lehigh, Southern Illinois, and Appalachian State have definitely been in contact with me more.

Phenom: What schools have been showing interest your way'
Avila: Belmont, Purdue, Miami (OH), Virginia Tech, Tulsa, UIC, and NIU have all shown interest as well.

Phenom: Curious in what they have been saying in general and who has been the strongest out of the interests'
Avila: Almost all the schools are trying to build a great relationship with me and my family to get to know each other better.  And the strongest out of those probably have been Tulsa, Purdue, and Belmont.

Phenom: Curious if any of those three schools would really intrigue you between Tulsa, Purdue, or Belmont if they offered'
Avila: I think it would be exciting to see a school from the Big-10 offer but I'm just grateful for what I've gotten so far.

Phenom: What are you looking for in a school'
Avila: I'm just looking for a school where I can play that seems like a great fit for me and the team.

Phenom: Have any timeframe of when you may want to commit'
Avila: Not right now, I haven't come close to making a decision just yet.
