Currently ranked as a Top-5 player by Phenom Hoops, 2022 7’0 Patrick Wessler seems to be showing even more of his game and looks to be a big man on a mission this summer. Playing with CC Elite, Wessler has been putting up some impressive numbers in multiple events and it now seems that everything is starting to come together.
Wessler was already known as the top big in the 2022 class for North Carolina, as the 7-footer has a tremendous feel and touch, along with to go with his defensive presence, his rebounding ability, and simply controlling the paint on both sides of the floor. Wessler has also shown that he has continued to grow as a player with his ability to step out, making him more of a complete big.
For the most part, young bigs sometimes take longer than other prospects such as guards in their development but when it comes all together, it can be game-changing and their recruitment could take off in a big way.
After a year at Combine Academy under Jeff McInnis, better preparing himself for the next level as well as his mobility, Wessler is giving everyone a glimpse of his development and what he has been working on.
Just take a look at the numbers he is posting recently with CC Elite:
Phenom Hoops Grassroots TOC (vs. Team Teague, CP3, Team Push, and Big Shots Winston Salem): 15.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, and 3.0 assists per game
Last weekend in Big Shots (vs. Team Loaded, Team Wall, Big Shots Premier, and TMP Elite): 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 3.0 assists per game
Before the start of the year, Wessler earned offers from Elon, Wake Forest, Charlotte, USF, Creighton, East Carolina, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech. Since the start of the 2021 year, Wessler has now added Providence, Coastal Carolina, and his most recent offer came from Iowa. And if he continues to play at that high of a level, that list will simply continue to grow.
Right now, he has also received interest from Cincinnati and Iona as well.
This looks to be just the start for this big man and everyone should get ready for a thrilling ride, as he will be a big priority for several big-time schools.
