North Carolina’s class of 2022 brings a lot of intrigue and depth for college coaches, which is why there are a few players to really watch this summer and their recruitment, as they could see an uptick with their play. The point guard position is one area that has several players that could help a program down the road, which is why we are going to take a look at a few players that have slid under the radar or have been a little quiet coming into this summer but could really see more attention with the summer they put together. Check out Part 2 of our list of players to watch.
2022 Mike Best (Wayne Country Day)
Best is an intriguing guard to watch, especially after the season he recently had with Wayne Country Day. Best is coming off a season in which he put up some impressive numbers and impacts the game in an array of ways, scoring 17.4 points, 7.5 assists, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game as a junior.
Best can knock down shots from the perimeter, sees the floor very well and finds his teammates for easy buckets, and also brings a nice presence on both sides of the floor.
The floor general showed this past season that he can knock down shots, shooting 61 percent from the floor and 45 percent from three, and he could be a hot target for many college programs.
2022 Chase Lowe (Weddington)
We have spoken about Lowe on multiple occasions but he should be mentioned again, especially with his level of play so far this spring and summer. Lowe is coming off a championship run and is the leader for CC Elite once again this summer.
Simply put, Lowe is a winner on the floor and plays with a tremendous feel for the game. He brings a 6’5 strong frame that attacks and finishes well, creates for himself, but also doesn’t force much and gets everyone involved. He is a team-first player that has an unselfish feel on the court but brings a nice blend of scoring power and play-making ability to the court.
Lowe is an undervalued type of floor general and there isn’t any doubt that he could be a nice piece for a program down the road.
2022 Nik Graves (Greensboro Day)
Graves is another point guard that played really well last summer and only continued to play at a high level this season at Greensboro Day. Now, he is back with Garner Road and looking to make even more noise this summer. Graves is a high IQ point guard that has plays with tremendous pace, reads the floor well, works well out in transition, and brings good athleticism to the court as well.
He is efficient and effective in getting his teammates involved first, finding the open teammate but also stepping up and taking charge in scoring when called upon. Learning under one of the best programs in North Carolina at GDS, Graves has a chance to capture even more eyes this summer, adding more offers to the list.
