Phenom Hoops got another chance to watch Calvary Day in action at the Phenom MLK Showcase, one of the multiple viewings we have had this season.  One player that had led the charge on multiple occasions and has impressed has been 2022 James Wilkins III, who is averaging nearly 15 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game as a junior.

He showed it once again in Rock Hill on Monday, scoring and leading his team with 18 points.  The crafty and shifty point guard has produced on the court, showing that he can score from the perimeter, attack in transition, and get by defenders and create scoring opportunities for himself off the dribble.  He did it once again vs. Northwood Temple, as our own Jeff Bendel had this to say about Wilkins after his game.

“James Wilkins III is a tough, crafty guard who produced throughout the game, whether it was making plays for himself or for teammates. He consistently knocked down the three-point shot. He was able to create off of the bounce and get into the paint. Once he got into the paint, he would find ways to finish over taller defenders. He also made a beautiful baseline drive and drift pass to a teammate in the opposite corner for the catch and shoot three.”

The floor general may not grab your attention when you first look but he is one that you will remember once you leave the court. Always productive and plays with a tremendous IQ on the court, he is one that could be a nice piece at the next level for college programs.

Check out some of his highlights below as well from his time at the Phenom Holiday Classic.
