Each and every year, there are players that don’t get the attention that they deserve and there are plenty in the class of 2022 that could fall into that file. One of those players that have consistently shown his impact on the court is 2022 AJ Cook from CC Elite 2022 and Weddington.
Off the court, this is a terrific young man that puts in the work to improve his game. On the court though, Cook has shown to be a terrific weapon with his offensive firepower, his IQ, and his team-first mentality. When watching his game, the first thing you certainly have to notice is his impact from the perimeter. To put it simply, Cook is an absolute flamethrower from outside, having a quick release on his shot, a ton of confidence in his shot, and has shown that he can knock down threes from all areas of the floor.
With Cook’s known ability to be a flamethrower, it has only given him ample opportunities to showcase more of his overall game. Whether it is creating for himself off the dribble, finding open opportunities for his teammates, or being incredibly unselfish and playing within the offense, Cook simply makes everyone else better on the court as well. All these are reasons why it is still a wonder why more schools haven’t gotten in the mix; an incredible weapon from outside, a player that puts his team first, a player with a tremendous IQ, and one that will put in the work to get better and make others better.
This summer, Cook put on a show and there isn’t a doubt that he will be looking to do the same once again at Weddington, looking to go out on top once again.
