2022 Chas Kelley is a 6’5 prospect from The Phelps School and is already seeing his recruitment take off while playing with Team Durant this travel ball season.  The defensive-minded point guard who brings a lot of intrigue with his game by getting others involved while showing his scoring ability and IQ is excited about playing with Team Durant this year, especially having high-level talent surrounding him.  He understands that his role this summer with them is to be that vocal leader and simply be an extension of the coach on the court.

With what he has shown so far, it seems that schools are taking notice of the big point guard and leader on the floor, as he updated us on the latest with his recruitment.

Adds offers from George Mason and Rutgers:

One of Kelley’s most recent offers came from George Mason, a new program that has just recently shown their interest his way.  And he knows that the staff for George Mason has the experience that can allow him to flourish at the next level.

“What stands out to me about George Mason is the development standpoint.  Coach English and Coach Simpkins were guards that have played at a high level and I know that they would have some tips and tricks that I can acquire from them and add to my game. Coach Simpkins loved my versatility at the point guard position and him saying that I have the ability to “do-it-all” really caught my attention.”

He then added a big offer from Rutgers a day later, giving him another impressive offer on the table.  Coach Pikeill and Coach Larkin have been the main contacts and Kelley’s initial thoughts on what he likes is the style of play.

“I love how versatile their playstyle is by having the ability to speed the game up as well as slow it down.  I also love how they really focus on developing their players on and off the court.”

Other offers and interests:

Kelley also earned offers from Missouri State and Louisiana Tech back in the summer of 2020, and he says that he has maintained those relationships, talking to those programs pretty frequently as well. As far as interests coming his way, several other programs are keeping tabs on him and have reached out at some point.  Schools like Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, VCU, UCF, Georgia State, Loyola-Chicago, La Salle, and Tulsa have all shown interest, with Pittsburgh, La Salle, and Georgia State showing the strongest interest from that group.
