The VISAA championships have come and gone from this past weekend.' In the DI championships of the VISAA, Cape Henry Collegiate matched up with Catholic and Cape Henry finished off the undefeated season with a championship, winning 58-48.
One of the key contributors and captains for Cape Henry Collegiate this season was 2021 6'2 Christian Moore.' In the championship game alone, Moore finished with 21 points in the win.'
Of course, it hasn't been the year many would have expected but he and his team have battled through it all and it paid off in the end. This year was also important in Moore getting another chance to show how he operates on the court and what he brings as a player.
'What I've been able to show most is that I've become more of a defensive pest and a better point guard, while still being able to score.' This year, I averaged about six assists and three steals.' (When talking about my game), I would describe my game as an all-around player that will do anything to help the team win. I can shoot well off the dribble, off the catch, off the screen as well. I find my teammates well, my court IQ, and my defensive abilities on the ball and off the ball.'
With a state championship on his resume now, it could bring more eyes his way as well with his recruitment.' So far, it has continued to stay strong, as Moore currently holds offers from Ohio University, Hampton, and Army.'
Of those three programs, Moore would say Army has been staying in contact with him a ton as the assistant coaches and head coach reach out consistently, while the assistant coach from Ohio University still continues to talk and has been picking up.'
Army right now seems to be standing out as of right now, as Moore likes what he has been seeing and hearing. 'For Army, definitely I love everything about the school and how it would set me up for my life after basketball,' he told Phenom Hoops. 'All of the coaches are amazing. Definitely love Army.'
Moore also got a chance to do a zoom call with Army and they discussed more about the school.
Outside of the offers though, schools like Colgate, Cornell, Purdue, UNC-Asheville, and VMI have been in contact.
'They are all saying that they love my game and think I could play in their system,' he replied.' 'It’s just COVID has put everything at a halt until after the season.' Moore is still weighing all his options right now, just making the right decision for him but he is hoping to find a place that just brings that home feeling his way.
